Can you tell us a little bit about your books?
My
books are New Adult stories with paranormal/new age elements in them.
My latest is SMASHING THE SLATE, the final book in my Stains trilogy.
The series followed a girl whose nightmares lead her to discover past
lives that are affecting her current life.
Do you remember the title of the first story you wrote?
Ha!
So embarrassing, but it was a short story in the 6th or 7th grade for a
school assignment. It was titled "I Thought You Were My Best Friend." I
have always had a struggle with titles, and the story kind of sucked.
What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
It
changes all the time. Usually, I'm online in the morning/early
afternoon doing my social media and all, and writing is usually done
later in the day. Sometimes, though, I start writing early in the day
and do the other stuff later.
Where do you find
inspiration?
From all kinds of places! Music is a huge inspiration, and I
usually have something playing when I'm writing. I also get inspired by
walks, books, and television. My Stains trilogy was actually inspired
by a dream that involved magic. That gave me an image of a girl burning
at the stake. The image stuck with me so strongly, I sat down to write
the scene and the rest flowed from there.
What have you learned about publishing that you didn’t know about when you first started writing?
The
importance of getting the ball rolling early with a release, for sure. I
didn't realize when my husband and I first started writing books that
you should be talking about them then. To have a release plan and start
promotion ahead of time.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I like to read, sing (the way I "listen" to music lol), take walks, and meditate. I also practice Reiki and chanting.
Can you tell us about your future projects?
My
next project is a trilogy that will focus on a girl who finds out she
is a Lightworker. It's a trilogy, and the first one will be coming this
November. Yes, I am insane for trying to release a book during
NaNoWriMo.
