Can you tell us a little bit about
your books?
I write adventure romance in many
genres, including steampunk, fantasy and scifi. My characters are always thrust
into situations that will either make or break them, and hopefully bring them
together. They should have strong, lasting relationships because they've
already been through hell.
Do you remember the title of the first story you
wrote?
The title of the first story I ever
wrote was The Bull and the Boy, which I wrote in 6th grade writing class.
Before that it was mostly poetry.
What is your work schedule like when
you’re writing?
I work during the day in the
healthcare field, so my writing has to be done in the afternoons and on my days
off. I take my kids to school and then I schedule out a block of time from 8-1
to write. In the afternoons I write for at least 1 hour after dinner and before
bed, usually 5 days a week
Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration for my stories comes
from things all around me. Songs, commercials on tv, a couple I see on the
street, or just a phrase that gets stuck in my head.
What have you learned about
publishing that you didn’t know about when you first started writing?
Before I was an actual
"published" author I had no real idea about the value of honing your
craft. I thought authors wrote a story and published it, and I had no clue
about the many ways a rough draft can be made better and honed with time and
application of skills that I'm still learning to master!
What do you like to do when
you’re not writing?
When I'm not writing I watch tv and
movies, read books and listen to music. Some days are just good for
"vegging" out and doing nothing but thinking about my next story.
Can you tell us about your
future projects?
I have several irons in the fire at
the moment. A second steampunk romance, following up The Alchemist's Kiss should
be completed for NaNoWriMo. I have been contracted to write a novella and a
novel for a scifi gaming company to promote their new game, and I have a short
story going out in a fantasy romance anthology next year. Of course, there's
also the "futurepunk" novel I'm slowly writing, and the third book in
the Mythical Madness series, and a sequel to Bound to You that are waiting to
be written. Needless to say, I have many many things to keep me busy!
