Blurb
He’s an All-Star NHL defenseman, a still-reeling divorcé, and Atlanta’s most recently declared Hottest Eligible Bachelor.
Mitch Fraser had it all…marriage to his childhood sweetheart, a son to share his passion for hockey, and a lucrative NHL contract.
Until he didn’t.
He still isn’t sure where it all went to hell, but one thing’s for certain: the sad life he’s been living since his divorce has got to change. So when his teammate insists on setting him up on a blind date with the perfect woman, he accepts.
The only problem? He’s got absolutely no game.
She’s a gutsy military widow, a devoted single mother, and one of social media’s top influencers.
Samantha Matthews had it all…a storybook marriage, the support of her loving family, and the promise of a contented life.
Until she didn’t.
She’ll never forget the day it all went to hell. From that moment, her focus turned to providing the best possible life for her son. So when the social media empire she built threatens to crumble, she’s got to think on her feet and find a way to save it.
The only problem? Her viewers want dating advice, and she’s got absolutely no social life.
When a friend offers to set her up on a blind date, Samantha sees it as a win-win. She’ll get content that her dwindling viewership will love and finally kick-start her stagnant dating life.
Well, at least she’ll be half-right.
It starts as the world’s worst blind date. How it all ends will depend on a determined woman’s tenacity against a stubborn broken heart.
Game on.

Review
5/5 stars
Raine Thomas's A Heart So Broken might be her best book yet.
A Strong Leading Lady Checked
A Strong yet Clueless Leading Man Checked
A Hockey Season to keep you on the edge of your seat Checked
I've been a massive fan of this series since the first book. I love hockey, and that's all I needed to be hooked as Thomas writes fiery and in-your-face hockey scenes that would not be out of place in an actual life match. That said, I stayed for the characters and their struggles. Every other book has been a perfect mix of spicy and romantic, intermingled with the hockey scenes. This book feels slightly different in a new and great way.
The story of Mitch and Samantha takes us deeper into the dynamics of family life and life after divorce and the death of a partner. I loved Mitch from his previous cameos, and I wasn't prepared for how much I would fall in love with him when I read his story.
Thomas took a lot of care in developing a man who is an Alpha on the ice but a loving father outside it. He struggles with certain things but always does right by his child. And that just sealed his fate as one of my favourite book boyfriends.
And let's not forget about Sam, the brave military widow who built her own empire on Social Media, taking care of her child, and putting him first. Also, the author deals with complex family dynamics and explores them in a very compassionate way.
I finish every review for this series with the same words: This is my favourite book. But heck, it is. I've been reading Raine's books for the last eleven years. From the Estilorians series to this, I've seen her growth as an author, and I can't praise her enough. This series is for you if you love sports, hockey, feisty women, alpha guys, and stories about family, not just family by blood but the family that we make when we move to a new city, are forced to work with other people, etc.
Do yourself a favour, get the first book in this series, and read all the books. Trust me.
