Fit Friday: Six months

May 8th to September 2020

I started working out regularly in 2014 after I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure. However, though it's been six years, I've not been consistent. After dropping almost fifty pounds the first time, I stopped working out for almost two years. I did do some work outs, but I never stuck to any of them consistently enough to get back on track.

Mental health was at an all time low, weight had ballooned and I was about thirty pounds shy of 300lbs, for my 5'2" frame that was a lot.

I was around 267lbs at the beginning of 2020. The only time I weighed myself was in January right before my husband's naturalization ceremony. And after that, I just stuck my head in the sand for a few more months.

Then May happened, and my friends were talking about a flexible program, Morning Meltdown 100.

I jumped on the bandwagon, and I'm so glad that I crashed their convo on Facebook. Slowly, I started making progress. Working out six times a week when you're carrying so much weight around is hard. I beat myself over and over again, until probably the fourth week, when I told myself off. I was going to stick to this. I was going to go on walks and I was going to get rid of the huge belly which makes me feel like a whale.

Pictures, I can't stress enough how important pictures are. You can't really see your progress. Yes, clothes may be loser, you might feel less aches and move better than before, but seeing the progress, that's a good way to motivate yourself to continue doing the work outs.

This past week, I've been doing Shaun T's Week workout in preparation for a second round of Morning Meltdown 100. Wish me luck!
